Built in 1929 by Max Stool, this building served as home of the Montgomery Ward & Co. Up until 1928, Montgomery Ward operated solely on retail catalogs. But by 1926 Montgomery Ward could no longer rely on catalog sales, and decided to expand by constructing a chain of stores in small towns across the country. One of them stationed here in Del Rio.
